Middlebury Pottery and School

"I named the school after Middlebury because at the turn of the 19th century Akron and Middlebury were like twin cities. Middlebury (currently the 6th ward) was rich in clay and had access to the Ohio canal. Full of potteries when the canal was at it's height of activity, some consider the area the stoneware capital of the world.  I grew up in the 6th ward and did not know of it's clay history until I was the potter at Hale Farm and Village and I read The Potteries of Summit County, so I could share the history of the area with visitors to the village"

Goals

Share the passion for medium of clay!

Educate the students, purchasers, and  audiences with my experience working with clay and teaching others.

Facilitate sharing between students, as well as between other potters.
